About
I'm Dipankar Sarkar, an engineer and builder based in the UK. I've spent the last two decades shipping software across India, Europe, and the US — from scrappy startups to enterprise systems that handle real money.
Before the current AI wave, I co-founded Kwippy (India's early attempt at a Twitter-like platform), wrote the Nginx Cookbook (one of the first), and contributed to Kubernetes and cAdvisor when container orchestration was still finding its footing.
These days I run Neul Labs, building high-performance AI agent infrastructure — Rust-accelerated drop-in components for the messy, real-world kind of agent stack where latency matters and hallucinations cost money.
This site has been around since 2007. It's where I write about whatever I'm thinking about: AI, DevOps, self-hosting, startup stories, and the occasional random exploration that doesn't fit anywhere else.
Things I work with
- AI/ML: LLMs, RAG systems, AI agents, prompt engineering
- Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, ARM servers
- Languages: Python, Go, TypeScript
- Self-hosting: CapRover, home lab experiments

My other sites
This blog is the longest-running of five sites I maintain. Each one focuses on a different facet of my work:
- dipankar.name — engineering leadership, AI/ML systems, Rust open source (canonical hub).
- dipankar.org — startup advisory, angel investing, venture case studies.
- dipankar.cc — research, federated learning, blockchain protocols, patents.
- dipankar.co — fractional CTO and consulting case studies.
