Well like all geeks and nerds i am obsessed about the ranking of my page when i search for “Dipankar Sarkar” , “Dipankar” . The good part is that there are very few “Dipankar Sarkar” to challenge me …. the sad part is that there is some competition on the “Dipankar” space … and i am 12th on that list …

The cool thing is that the top 4 are all research people, which makes sense. They will have publications and research linking to other sites thus increasing their popularity. I cant explain 5 , 7 , 8 , 9 , how exactly have they beaten me on this list. Will need to do a bit more research and see how i can hit top 5 on this list .

The coolest part is that i think google search has started to falter on search results, this is going to open a whole new phase of the search battle. Waiting to see what people at poweset and cuill will do to improve search …. lets see …

Start of another blog

So today marks the beginning of a new blog here . This will be a blog dedicated to my financial ambitions on and off the internet. The content of this blog will be completely non-technical and will look at what drives most people in my honest view ($$$). In an effort to improve my rather sad looking blog, i have gone for a looks upgrade. The following changes have been made :

1. After looking at techcruch’s 900px+ width, i have decided to increase the width of both the blogs for maximum space utilization.
2. The right content bar with two sidebars for ads, widgets , etc. has really caught my attention and i have modded my wordpress blog acordingly. I have registered on some ad networks to see if they deliver on what they state. Adsense it seems hates my blog :P, wont let me register.
3. Widgets will play a useful role going forward, so the space will be useful, would love to have a small social networking widget on my blog. Hopefully i can get sometime to implement something like that. I checked out a very cool forbes.com list widget on widgetbox , it looks very impressive.

Just a reminder post on what all i am tackling this week :

1. Joomla extension development , its awesome fun . Will release something real useful soon.

2. pidgin(formerly known as gaim) development. I think i will join their patch submission group soon.

3. Fixing Net::POP3 on ruby … i think its kinda buggy …. lets see if i need to dive into some hacking to get it working for me ….

I think i need to finish the 3rd … really stuck up some stupid errors … that is forcing me to develop on my X2 at home .. need some RAD action ….
